The Clave system is a new functionality that the Spanish Government has launched to facilitate citizen procedures through the Internet. It is a common form of identification for all Spanish public administrations and, in the case of the DGT, it allows you to carry out procedures such as seeing the balance of points on the card or the fines that may have been imposed on you.
Steps to follow:
There are two ways to register in the Clave system. These are the following:
- In person, registering at the Tax Agency or at a Social Security office.
- Through the Internet, for which you will have to have a DNI-e or a digital certificate. In this article we will explain in detail how to do it in the latter way.
The first step is to enter the electronic headquarters of the Tax Agency to be able to start the process to register in the Clave system. We remind you that in addition to making arrangements with the DGT, you can use this system to interact with all the Spanish public administrations.
If you have the electronic certificate correctly installed in your browser, it will already take your basic identification data. In successive windows, you must fill in different additional data that the system asks you for.
If everything goes well, you will receive a confirmation message on the screen that everything has gone well and you will be able to print a pdf in which you are informed in detail about what the Clave system consists of and how you can use it.
It is very important that you click on Obtain receipt to download the aforementioned pdf. The reason is that in it you will have an activation code that will allow you to generate your first password to access the Clave system and other subsequent ones in case you forget or lose this first one.
There are two ways to access the Clave system, with a permanent code and with a single-use code that will be sent to the mobile phone that you have provided in your identification data.
Then go to Access the service. There, you must enter your ID, your email and the activation code that came in the pdf. When you enter all your data correctly, you will receive another code on your phone that, in turn, you must write in another box on the computer. Then, you will be able to create the password you want to use the Clave system.
Now you are registered in the Clave system and you already have your password to be able to carry out certain procedures with the Spanish Public Administrations, including the DGT. The process is somewhat cumbersome but it is worth it to avoid going to physical places and be able to carry out your procedures through the Internet.
