Fulfilling the requirements for the btp card will give you the opportunity to have a driving license that will expand your options to get a job. Thus, this license is what is needed to drive urgent service vehicles such as ambulances or public transport, such as taxis. In addition, it is mandatory to have this permit for certain oppositions, such as those of the National Police.
Steps to follow:
First of all, clarify that this btp permit is valid throughout Spain and allows you to drive the following vehicles with a maximum mass of 3,500 kilos and a maximum of 9 seats:
- The priority ones when they circulate in urgent service.
- School transportation vehicles.
- Passenger public transport cars.
The first requirement for the btp card is to be 18 years old.
In addition, to obtain the btp card you must already have the B permit. This license is the regular one, the one that allows you to drive a car that does not have more than 9 seats and does not exceed 3,500 kilos. But not only is it enough for you to have the b permit, but you also have to have at least 1 year of experience with it.
In the event that you do not have this year of experience, you can take a course and complete specific training in a center authorized by the DGT. However, not all autonomous communities offer these classes, so you may have to travel.
Other requirements for the btp card, which are actually common to all the permits granted by the DGT, are:
- Have residence in Spain or, if you are a student, prove that you have been in this country for 6 months.
- Not be deprived of the right to drive motor vehicles or mopeds or have any intervened or suspended license.
- Gather psychophysical aptitudes.
If you meet all these requirements for the btp card, you can take the test established by the DGT to consider you suitable for this permit and which consists of a theoretical exam on mechanics and road safety, somewhat more complete than the B.
It is important to point out that if you are a professional driver and have a type C or D permit, it is not necessary for you to take the btp tests, since it is granted to you directly when you pass these permits.
If you meet the requirements for the btp card and pass the exam, you will have more chances of accessing new job offers, such as a firefighter, police officer, taxi driver or ambulance driver.
