Cranes are lifting machines that are made up of a boom mounted on a rotating vertical axis and are used to lift weights, distribute loads in space and carry them from one point to another. As for driving any type of vehicle, to be able to carry cranes it is mandatory to obtain the appropriate driving licenses.
Driving license type C1
The type C1 driving license is indicated to drive cars whose Maximum Authorized Mass (MMA) ranges between 3,5000 kg and 7,500 kg. This type of vehicle must have a maximum of 9 seats, including the driver’s seat, and can carry a hitched trailer with a maximum authorized mass that does not exceed 750 kg.
Regarding the requirements to obtain said driving license we find:
- Be in possession of a valid class B permit.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Passing tests such as a specific theoretical exam, a maneuvers exam and a driving exam.
It is also important to take into account that obtaining the C1 permit implies the granting of the BTP authorization (Priority Transport Card B) but not the granting of the A1 and A permits.
Type C driving license
The type C driving license, unlike the previous one, is indicated to carry automobiles whose Maximum Authorized Mass (MMA) exceeds the weight of 3,500 kg. On the other hand, it shares the characteristics that the vehicle must have a maximum of 9 seats, including the driver’s seat, and the possibility of hooking up an MMA trailer of up to 750 kg.
Likewise, it is essential to meet the following requirements to obtain the type C permit:
- Be in possession of a valid type B permit.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Pass a specific theory test, a maneuver test and a driving test.
In this case, obtaining the C permit does not imply the granting of the A1 and A permits either, but it does imply the granting of the C1 card and the BTP authorization.
Other requirements to obtain a driving license
In addition to the tests indicated above, to obtain the appropriate permit to carry cranes as well as to renew it, it will be strictly necessary to be in possession of a Psychophysical Fitness Report issued by an authorized Medical Center. In it, general medical tests must be passed, as well as an ophthalmological, auditory and psychological tests.
